What We Do in This Business.
LPtransfers4U
provides high-quality transfer and digital restoration services for
consumers who wish to have the music / recordings from one format
— such as cherished vinyl records or cassette tapes —
professionally transferred to another format — maybe CD or MiniDisc
— at an AFFORDABLE price. Utilizing our high-quality, professional-level
technology, LPtransfers4U
captures the recorded material from your
33 1/3 LP, 45 RPM, 12-inch single, extended-play 45, 78 RPM, cassette
reel-to-reel or 8-track tape — as well as CD, CD-R or MiniDisc
— and transfers / converts it to your choice of CD, cassette
tape, MiniDisc or MP3. We also can perform audio restoration during
the transfer process to remove or significantly reduce noise —
such as hiss, clicks or pops — common to vinyl and older tape
formats.
How We Got Started in This Business.
AG loved music as a child, even played bass guitar in a high school
rock ‘n roll band. Your typical baby boomer, he collected “vinyl”
(45s and 33 1/3 LPs) of the late '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s, along
with 4- and 8-track tapes — remember those? — which soon
gave way to cassette and reel-to-reel tapes. Upon becoming
an adult with an eclectic love for ALL styles of music, AG expanded
his vinyl collection to include 78 RPM recordings from the '30s,
'40s and early '50s. Frequent visits to antique record dealers and
shops introduced him to wax cylinders from the Edison era, which
he also started collecting. At the same time, AG enjoyed the more
contemporary “tunes” of the '90s and new millennium,
thus adding CDs, MiniDiscs and MP3s to his ever-growing collection.
Before he hit age 45, AG's recording collection ran the entire
gamut. His play-back equipment included antique phonographs, record
players, jukeboxes, turntables, reel-to-reel machines, 8-track tape
players, cassette tape players, CD players, MiniDisc players and
MP3 players.
As his friends, we had it “made in the shade” so to
speak. AG’s passion for music and related technology guided
him to computer-aided digitization and restoration. He researched
and obtained new state-of-the-art computer software that enabled
the conversion / transfer of music from one media to another, and
he was utilizing it extensively to transfer his vinyl and cassette
tape recordings to CDs for archiving purposes. Once we, his friends,
heard what he could do, we naturally felt no compunctions whatsoever
about asking AG to perform transfers (for free, of course :-) for
us “less fortunate” folks — those of us who couldn't
afford or had no room for all the fancy schmancy equipment and technology
that AG had. Those of us whose record and tape players in our homes
and cars had long since made way for CD players. Those of us who
had still hung on, however, to the records and tapes themselves
and wanted to be able to hear and enjoy them once again.
The rest of the story is literally humanesque. The word spread
like wildfire; and over time, so many friends and neighbors asked
AG for his transfer and restoration services for their own historic
and music recordings that he finally decided to go into business
and actually turn a profit (what a concept!) so he could
buy MORE music and equipment. At this point, enter AG's long-time
friend who had extensive Customer Service expertise and voila! —
LPtransfers4U
was born.
